Luzerne Music Center – Master Planning

Lake Luzerne, NY

AJA has reimagined the future of the Luzerne Music Center and its entire campus.

Established in 1980 by Philadelphia Orchestra cellist Bert Phillips and Steinway pianist Toby Blumenthal, the Luzerne Music Center is dedicated to offering world-class music education in a summer camp setting, irrespective of students’ financial backgrounds. Young musicians aged 9 to 18 from across the globe gather at the LMC campus, nestled in the picturesque foothills of New York’s Adirondack Park.

AJA has crafted a comprehensive master plan encompassing various aspects of the campus, including facility upgrades, student cabins, faculty accommodations, utilities, operations, wayfinding, ADA compliance, and circulation. In addition to the master plan, AJA was entrusted with revitalizing existing structures to incorporate fresh designs for camper cabins, wash-houses, the Faculty Village (comprising 8-4 bedroom cottages), and new facility buildings housing practice rooms, teaching facilities, and a modern administrative building.
